Il Casale degli Ulivi, property of Gentili family, rises in Contrada (district) Badia or Abbazia (Abbey) of Rosara, among arable fields, vineyards and olive trees, in a lucky position both for the little distance from Ascoli and for the beauty and variety of its wide range landscapes.

According to Colucci (end of XVIII century) the name contrada comes from "Benedictine Abbey of S. Giovanni de Salara of medieval origin".

Placed in the west suburbs of Ascoli alongside the famous Roman consular road and the jus patronatus of the powerful Sgariglia family, the S. Giovanni de Salara monastery had had a strong religious, cultural and economical influence for ages on the whole territory of Rosara.
